e-MID is the only electronic market for Interbank Deposits in the Euro Area and US.
It was founded in Italy in 1990 for Italian Lira transactions and denominated in Euros in 1999: four are the currencies traded as of today:
- Euro (€)
- US Dollar ($)
- GBP (£)
The ever-increasing number of international counterparts joining e-MID confirms its leading role in liquidity pooling. According to the "Euro Money Market Study 2006" published by the European Central Bank in February 2007, e-MID accounts for 17% of total turnover in unsecured money market in the Euro Area.
